To apply for a short-term visa to Bulgaria, the applicant must independently decide on the category of the requested visa, which will correspond to the purpose of the upcoming trip to Bulgaria.

WHAT DO YOU HAVE TO DO

Below is a list of the currently existing short stay visa categories. If necessary, we provide assistance in preparing documents for certain types of visas by agreement. For more detailed information, please contact us through the feedback form in the «Contacts»section.

Categories of short stay visas:
  • Property owners - refers to those persons who own property in Bulgaria.
  • Private visit - refers to persons who would like to visit friends or non-close relatives in Bulgaria.
  • Business trip - refers to those persons who travel for commercial purposes to Bulgaria.
  • Official trip - refers to persons who have official purposes for visiting Bulgaria. Usually, these are members of official delegations who receive an official invitation and must take part in official meetings, negotiations, consultations, exchange programs.
  • Transit - this category of visa refers to those persons who transit through Bulgaria, having their final destination in another country.
  • Visit to close relatives - refers to persons who have the purpose of visiting close relatives in Bulgaria: these are spouses, parents, children, grandfathers, grandmothers, grandchildren who are EU citizens or not, but legally reside in Bulgaria or the EU.
  • Cultural, scientific, sports activities or education - refers to applicants who are sent for the purpose of cultural, sports, scientific activities or studies in Bulgaria.
  • Unorganized tourism - refers to persons planning individual tourism and for this purpose submit self-prepared documents.
The applicant can also stay in Bulgaria for up to 90 days in one half-year without opening a visa to Bulgaria (in accordance with the decision of the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Bulgaria No. 459 of 03.07.2014) in the following cases:
  • There is a valid short-term two or multiple entry Schengen visa, as well as visas for Cyprus, Croatia and Romania.
  • You have a national visa (D) for one of the Schengen countries or Cyprus, Romania and Croatia.
  • You have a residence permit in one of the Schengen countries or Cyprus, Romania and Croatia.

  • The applicant cannot stay in Bulgaria for more than the number of days specified in the visa. The number of days of stay in Bulgaria is not deducted from the visa. Extension of the term of tourist visas to 3 years
