Visas for tourists on term up to 3 years!?
The geopolitical situation in Russia and Ukraine led to a decline in tourist flow from these countries to Bulgaria. When considering options for possible compensation of this downturn Bulgaria had come to the decision on visa facilitation with regard not only with Russia and Ukraine as well as Belarus, Kazakhstan, Georgia and Armenia. This was stated by Minister of Tourism of Nicolina Angelkova after the meeting held on February 6th 2015, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bulgaria Daniel Mitov. Citizens who are going to visit Bulgaria for the first time, will be able to double or multiple short-term visas for one year for the purpose of a private visit, and those who have previously had a visa to Bulgaria — for three years. The same possibility is provided for property owners.
In order to develop child tourism and juvenile stay from the countries listed above will be issued multiple entry visas in the youth camps for 5 years. Twofold or multiple short-term visas for a period of one year will benefit persons with disabilities.
Recall that the word «short-stay visa» always implies a maximum period of 90 days to six months. It does not give the right to long-term stay on the territory of Bulgaria, work or obtain the status of residence permit, permanent residence, which is only possible with an immigrant visa.
This measure will increase the period during which tourists can visit Bulgaria, showing a flexible policy of the state in order to attract the flow of citizens of other countries, avoiding the need for early reservation, possibility of re-visiting the country without wasting effort and time to design new visas.
Diplomatic and consular missions have been sent guidance on the simplification of procedures for issuance of tourist visas. In parallel, Bulgaria has been active advertising policy in the former CIS.
