Annual reporting in Bulgaria from 2027: a single system
NSI, the National Revenue Agency (NAP) and the Registry Agency are introducing the "Single Entry Point" information system From 1 January 2027, a new procedure…
Let's start with the youngest. If you have obtained a long-term residence permit in Bulgaria, placing your child in a preschool is not much of a problem. There are enough kindergartens in every district; it is better to enrol in advance, from April, for which special electronic lists exist.

If your family arrives during the school year, it is better to contact the municipality at your place of residence directly — there may be a place for your child in a nearby kindergarten. The monthly fee for one child is approximately 25 euros. A vaccination record is required for admission.
School education in Bulgaria lasts 12 years. The educational process is graded into primary (grades 1-4), pre-secondary (grades 5-8) and secondary (grades 9-12) education.
Teaching in all schools is in Bulgarian, but schools with in-depth study of foreign languages are common, where from the first grade you can choose, for example, Russian, and from the fifth — English. As a rule, children adapt to the Bulgarian language very quickly.
The summer holidays begin on 15 June and last until 15 September, and this is precisely the period of steady warm weather on the Black Sea coast.
Bulgarian universities, like those in the EU, apply the Bologna system. Education provides for degrees depending on the length of study: 3 years — professional bachelor, 4 years — bachelor, 5 years — master, 8 years — doctor. Upon completion of studies, the university issues a European-format diploma valid worldwide, except in the USA and Canada (for these countries confirmation is required). In Bulgaria, in Blagoevgrad, there is also an American university, which issues a US diploma upon graduation. Teaching there is in English.
Studies at Bulgarian universities are conducted in Bulgarian; on admission a simple language test is taken. There are no entrance exams for fee-paying studies — it is enough to provide a school certificate or diploma (depending on the level of education), necessarily together with a letter from the educational institution stating that the secondary education is complete, as well as a medical certificate. The Bulgarian language is very close to Russian, and if you wish, you can learn the spoken version on your own in two or three months using a self-study book. Payment for the upcoming studies is made only after enrolment at the university and receipt of the corresponding admission certificate. To obtain a type D immigration visa and a residence permit in Bulgaria, a student must also obtain a certificate from the Ministry of Education and rent accommodation (a dormitory room or an apartment).
Our company provides assistance in preparing the package of documents for a type D visa and a long-term residence permit in Bulgaria. As a rule, after graduating from university and having held a long-term residence permit for 5 years, students apply for a permanent residence permit, which grants the right to live in any EU country on equal terms with Bulgarian citizens.
