The insurance company “Axiom” (formerly “Medico-21”) has signed agreements with the largest online platforms offering appointment booking with medical specialists.
The online platforms SuperDoc.bg and EasyDoc.bg let you choose a specialist and book an appointment online, without phone calls. It is an exceptionally convenient system that many users in Bulgaria have already come to appreciate. It is especially popular with foreigners living in Bulgaria whose Bulgarian is not good enough to speak with doctors by phone.
On 4 January 2022 the insurance company “Axiom” signed a service agreement with these platforms. This means that insured persons do not pay for medical services — the insurance company covers the cost. All you need to do is present a valid medical card to the coordinating doctor.
Booking is done online. On the SuperDoc.bg platform, after reserving an appointment time, you must select the payment option “безкасово с карта на застраховател”. When booking on the EasyDoc.bg platform, you should immediately select the insurance company “Medico-21” (the insurer’s name has not yet been changed on the site). In both cases the doctor’s visit will be free of charge — the insurance company pays for it.
Beforehand you need to make sure that the case is covered by the insurance: standard insurance for foreigners does not cover treatment of chronic conditions, pregnancy examinations, etc. (the full list of exclusions is set out in the insurance terms). Remember that when an insured event occurs you can always call the number given in the policy for instructions on what to do next.
