PLANNING TRIPS DURING THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC

With the pandemic situation changing frequently in different countries, it is very important to obtain information about the countries you plan to travel to from the primary source.

In Bulgaria, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has taken care of this and created a resource where you can obtain up-to-date information on the level of risk in different countries.

This list includes countries where there is a threat to life not only because of a relatively high level of the pandemic, but also where military operations are under way and there are similar situations that pose a real general threat to life.

The level of risk is classified into five degrees:

Degree I – the lowest level of risk to life.

No special recommendations.

Degree II

Increased attention.

When planning a trip, you need to find out more about the current situation in the country.

Degree III

Elevated level of risk.

It is recommended not to travel to certain regions of the country unless necessary.

Degree IV

High level of risk.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Bulgaria recommends that you stop travelling to this country (except in cases of extreme necessity).

Degree V

Very high level of risk.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Bulgaria warns that all travel must be stopped and that this country must be left immediately.

The list of countries with travel warnings is presented on the page https://www.mfa.bg/bg/situationcenter .

On this page you can select the country you need and follow the link to a new page, which will contain information not only about the level of threat, but also useful information about embassies and consulates, consular services, the visa regime and general information about the country that a traveller needs to know.

The assessment of the security situation published on this site is based not on one particular tragic event, but on the overall situation in the region and, accordingly, in the country, according to all the information at the disposal of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and it is an official warning that should be taken into account when planning trips.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs also uses the classification of risk levels adopted in the EU member states.
