RESIDENCE PERMIT FOR SALARIED EMPLOYEES

According to Art. 24, para 1, sub-para 1 of the the Law on Foreigners in Bulgaria foreign employees can obtain a Bulgarian residence permit. To do this, you must conclude an employment contract with a Bulgarian employer for at least 12 months, collect a package of documents and obtain a Visa D. Then you need to enter Bulgaria on this Visa and at any time, but no later than 14 days before the expiration of the Visa, and apply for a residence permit to the Migration Directorate in the regional police department. The obtained residence permit can be extended in the future: for this you need to submit documents at least 2 weeks before the expiration of the permit.

The list of documents for Visa D and residence permit is almost identical, the differences are shown in brackets:

• Foreign passport, copies of its first page spread and the page with the stamp of the last entry into the country. The document must be valid for at least another year and a half from the date of submission.
• Visa application form with color photo (application for residence permit).
• Health insurance, valid for the duration of the stay, in the amount of 30 thousand euros.
• Proof of housing - a copy of a title deed or a lease agreement with a declaration of address attached to it.
• Translated, legalized certificate of no criminal record (only for adults with citizenship). The document must be issued no earlier than 5 months before contacting the consulate.
• Work permit issued by the Bulgarian Ministry of Labor and Social Policy (notarized copy and original).
• Employment contract (original and copy).

The last two documents are drawn up by the employer in accordance with the laws of the country.
